Kaga Golf Course

The Chiakung Golf Course is located at the junction of Shuishang Township and Zhongpu Township in Chiayi County. Built in 1968, it is the sixth oldest golf course in Taiwan, holding the youthful memories and golfing years of many senior golfers in central and southern Taiwan. The course is situated near the Luliao Reservoir, surrounded by exceptionally beautiful natural scenery, resembling a green sanctuary hidden in a paradise. Although it is only a nine-hole course, it is cleverly built along natural slopes, allowing golfers to complete a standard eighteen-hole round by playing each hole twice. It is an excellent venue for social gatherings and skill improvement for golfers in central and southern Taiwan.

The design philosophy of Chiakung Golf Course deeply respects nature, with fairways perfectly integrated with the original forest landscape. Built between valleys and hills, the terrain is significantly undulating. Playing here not only offers the serene tranquility of the mountains and forests but also provides the competitive enjoyment of contending with the terrain. The most challenging hole is undoubtedly the eighth, a right dogleg with an extremely narrow fairway flanked by dense trees, coupled with significant elevation changes, making it very difficult to control the landing spot of the drive. Additionally, the greens throughout the course are generally small, hard, and very fast, requiring golfers to precisely control the power and trajectory when approaching the green, otherwise, they can easily find themselves in a difficult scramble.

Although Chiakung Golf Course's facilities may not be as luxurious as modern resort-style courses due to changing times, its simple natural charm and challenging old-course layout still exude a unique appeal. Notably, the course features convenient elevators (skywalks) to transport golfers to and from the fairways, not only eliminating the effort of walking but also allowing golfers to overlook the entire course and the surrounding lake and mountain scenery from above. For golfers seeking tranquility outside the bustling city and desiring the purest golf experience, Chiakung Golf Course is a historic course well worth savoring.

Course Designer
