Hsinfeng Golf Course, also known as Hsinchu Golf Club, is an international-standard course in Taiwan with significant historical and landmark status. Established in 1968 by Mr. Hsu Chin-te, then Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, it is not only an important milestone in the development of golf in Taiwan but also the first 27-hole standard golf course in the country. Situated on the hillside of Kengzukou, Hsinfeng Township, Hsinchu County, the course boasts unique natural scenery. To the east, golfers can admire the majestic Central Mountain Range, while to the west, they can take in the expansive seascape of the Taiwan Strait, enjoying a visual feast of mountains and water in addition to their game.
The most distinctive feature of the Hsinfeng Course is the abundant black and five-needle pines lining the fairways. These dense pine forests not only provide excellent shade but also serve as natural barriers and hazards, adding a high degree of challenge to the fairways. Coupled with the strong winds characteristic of the Hsinchu region, they form a highly difficult natural defensive line, testing golfers' precision and wind-handling strategies. The course is divided into East, West, and Central sections, each with unique characteristics and varied terrain, ensuring that both beginners and single-handicap experts can find suitable challenges and enjoyment here.
For a long time, Hsinfeng Golf Course has been renowned as the cradle of professional Taiwanese golfers. With stringent course maintenance standards and highly challenging fairway designs, it has nurtured countless internationally acclaimed professionals, such as Lin Wen-tang and Lin Wen-ko. In recent years, the course has continuously invested in management and hardware upgrades, significantly improving the quality of its greens and bunkers, and maintaining its turf to be lusher and greener, showcasing a high-standard playing environment. Hsinfeng Golf Course is not just an arena for testing golfing skills but also a classic venue that combines natural beauty with golf history, offering an unforgettable swinging experience for every golfer who steps onto its greens.
